Uses: Developed to replace thiurams such as TMTD. The dibenzylnitrosamine is not carcinogenic according to published literature. Be a fast curing primary or secondary accelerator in NR, SBR and NBR applications. Be safer to process, provide longer scorching times than TMTD. Sometimes used as retarder in the vulcanization of polychloroprene rubber.

- This product, as the super accelerator of natural rubber, synthetic rubber and latex, is often referred to as accelerator TMTD and is the representative of thiuram vulcanization accelerator, accounting for 85% of the total amount of similar products.
- What is TMTD used for?
- TMTD is widely used in rubber processing as an ultra accelerator for low-temperature cures, either alone or as an activator for other accelerators, chiefly the thiazoles. It can be used: In conjunction with accelerators such as mercaptobenzothiazole (0.25 – 0.5 TMTD on the weight of the gum).
- Does TMTD require sulfur?
- Sulfur is not required but is often used. It is widely used as a primary accelerator for curing systems requiring very low or no sulfur. TMTD is often used to activate thiazole or sulfenamide cure systems. Accelerator TMTD is also available in a pellet form and micro granules (MG) to reduce dusting. TMTD contains 13% available sulfur.
- Can TETD be substituted for TMTD?
- If TETD is substituted for TMTD, about 10% more TETD should be used. They are used in combination with other accelerators, mostly with sulfenamides and thiazoles in various times.
