- ZMBT (MZ) is used for NR, IR, SBR, NBR, EPDM and latex. It is a secondary accelerator in combination with PZ and EZ. Similar performance as MBT at curing temperature in dry rubber application. Suitable for mold curing. Requires zinc oxide and stearic acid as activators in many kinds of rubber batches.
- What does ZMBT stand for?
- Zinc 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole (ZMBT) is widely used in the rubber processing industry and is an essential high-efficiency rubber vulcanization accelerator for natural and synthetic rubber. Molecular Formula: C14H8N2S4Zn CAS No. 155-04-4 EC No. 205-840-3
- Does ZMBT destabilize latex?
- ZMBT does not destabilize latex formulations. In dry rubber applications, the performance of ZMBT is almost similar to MBT, with slight scorch improvement. Zinc 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole is commonly used as an accelerator in the rubber vulcanization process, improving tensile strength and aging resistance.
- What is MBTs vulcanized rubber?
- Application: MBTS is a common accelerator for natural rubber, synthesis rubber and reclaimed rubber, which is easy to spread in rubber, no contamination. Vulcanized rubber has good antioxidant quality, but bitter, unsuitable for the rubber products contacting with food.
- What is ZMBT used for?
- ZMBT’s main application is latex, where it is used as a primary accelerator in combination with ZDMC or ZDEC. Latex films cured with ZMBT have a markedly higher modulus. Furthermore, a better compression set resistance in latex foam can be achieved without increasing the cure time. ZMBT does not destabilize latex formulations.
- How many PHR of ZMBT should a secondary accelerator use?
- Using 2-4 phr of ZMBT with 0.5 – 0.05 phr thiuram and low sulfur exhibits outstanding resistance to heat. Typical use in mechanical goods would be 0.8 – 1.2 phr. ZMBT, 0.01 – 0.5 phr of a secondary accelerator with ordinary sulfur.
