Effect of Zinc Complexes as Activator for Sulfur
The content of zinc is known to affect the efficiency of activator in the vulcanization process and consequently the cure characteristics of rubber compounds [13, 24]. As listed in Table 2, zinc

- What is styrenated phenol used for?
- Styrenated Phenol is a very widely used and inexpensive non-staining, non discoloring antioxidant for white / colored or transparent rubber products Styrenated Phenol also finds applications as a stabilizer for synthetic rubbers and plastics such as Polypropylene, Polyethylene, high impact polystyrene, adhesives, oils and plasticizers.
- What are phenolic antioxidant products?
- Typical phenolic antioxidant products include 2,2′-methylenebis (6-tert-butyl-4-methyl-phenol) (antioxidant 2246), 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol (BHT (264)), and styrenated phenol (antioxidant SP). Among them, antioxidant 2246 has a good performance to protect rubber from aging caused by heat, oxygen, and metals.
- What are the TPS of rubber antioxidants?
- The TPs of rubber antioxidants have been observed in some studies under environmental conditions. As one of the widespread rubber antioxidants, amine antioxidants (PPDs: TMPPD, DPPD, 6PPD, and 6PPDTZ) could react with O 3 (in parts per billion volume levels) in the environment and produce PPD-quinone .
- Does styrenated phenol affect rubber vulcanizates?
- Styrenated Phenol disperses very easily in dry rubber compounds and does not bloom or affect the color, odor & transparency of the rubber product. It does not influence the viscosity, scorch and cure characteristics of rubber compounds nor does it have any influence on unaged mechanical properties of rubber vulcanizates.
- Are rubber antioxidants harmful to the environment?
- However, recent studies have revealed that their transformation products (TPs) could adversely affect environmental organisms and even lead to environmental events, which led to great public concern about environmental occurrence and potential impacts of rubber antioxidants and their TPs.
- Why are antioxidants used in rubber production?
- Antioxidants are prevalently used during rubber production to improve rubber performance, delay aging, and extend service life.
