  • What is accelerator TETD?
  • Accelerator TETD is a very active, sulfur-bearing, non-discoloring rubber accelerator for use in natural and synthetic rubber systems. It can be used alone or combination with many other common rubber accelerators. TETD functions as a primary accelerator for cure systems requiring very low or no sulfur. It is cure modifier in W/G-type neoprenes.
  • Why are accelerators used in rubber vulcanization?
  • Accelerators are widely used during the vulcanization of rubber, bringing a number of important benefits – lower energy demand, reduced use of sulfur and faster processing to name just three – but many of the traditional accelerators used also bring problems for worker safety and concerns about possible toxicity of the end product.
  • Do I need a fatty acid to use TETD?
  • Normally zinc oxide and a fatty acid are required when using TETD in a natural rubber application. Sulfur is not required, but is often used. TETD can be blended with TMTD to reduce the tendency of the compound to bloom while maintaining cure activity. Accelerator TETD is also available as Akroform® TETD-75.
